Due to the impending retirement of the director after fifteen years, the Conservatorium is seeking a dynamic, experienced music educator/performer or music/arts administrator. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of this highly respected regional Conservatorium.

Established in 1984, Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music (TRCM) today nurtures the musical development of almost 1,000 students of all ages across a multitude of disciplines.
Reporting to the Board, you will manage, supervise, direct and oversee all aspects of TRCM’s operations from staff management to teaching program development to community engagement. You will oversee TRCM’s strategic development, ensuring people, processes and systems deliver an exceptional customer experience. You will drive a culture of excellence through effective management and inspiring leadership.
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and can demonstrate a sound knowledge of modern business management practices, including the principles of leadership, employee performance management and continuous improvement.
The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:
· A proven record in music or arts administration and demonstrable skills and experience in teaching and learning environments.
· The ability to envision, initiate, modify and coordinate programs and courses to build on TRCM’s existing music education programs.
· A commitment to and understanding of current school and community based music education principles and practices.
· The ability to develop and implement TRCM’s Strategic Plan.
· The ability to lead and manage TRCM’s human, financial and physical resources within budget and the existing environment.
· The ability to attract, retain and develop suitably qualified teaching and administration staff.
· A comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements and issues, in particular OH&S and Child Protection legislation.
· The ability to identify, secure and manage a variety of funding opportunities, including the preparation of grant submissions and sponsorship proposals and their subsequent execution.
· Demonstrated track record in effective leadership and management of change.
· The ability to manage conflicting demands and prioritise appropriately.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, public relations and networking skills.
· Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
· While not essential, advanced orchestral conducting skills would be well regarded.
