Orchestral Program
The Conservatorium conducts a three-tiered Orchestral Program, comprising:
• Junior Strings
• Tamworth Youth String Orchestra
• Tamworth Regional Youth Orchestra
Junior Strings
All young beginner String students are encouraged to participate in group lessons, which maintain motivation and provide relevance to their individual lessons. The lessons encompass a variety of music games based on concepts of music reading, awareness, posture and development of repertoire.
Tamworth Youth String Orchestra
Musical development focuses on enhancing reading skills, repertoire and social interaction. Students are provided with opportunities to work with some of Australia's leading musicians.
Tamworth Regional Youth Orchestra
This provides a stimulating environment in which players develop high-level ensemble techniques and advanced playing skills. The orchestra has performed under the baton of a number of eminent Australian conductors, including Mr Richard Gill OAM and Mr Graham Abbott. It has also commissioned works from Australian composers Elena Kats-Chernin, Matthew Hindson and Iain Grandage.
